The School of Sleep Medicine, Inc. (SSM) is dedicated to providing the highest quality basic and advanced education in the principles of normal sleep and sleep disorders. Courses are designed to accommodate physicians, technologists, and other health care specialists. SSM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education credits for physicians. The School of Sleep Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of (number credits) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Please see individual courses for number of credit hours. The School of Sleep Medicine, Inc., # CEP 13130, is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) to designate continuing education contact hours. The School of Sleep Medicine, Inc., in accordance with the criteria and guidelines set forth by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), awards CEU units to participants. SSM is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. SSM maintains responsibility for this program and its content. SSM is approved and accredited by the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP).
CME Mission Statement
Goals: The School of Sleep Medicine,
Inc. (SSM) was founded to provide high quality education
for the medical community regarding sleep and sleep disorders.
Our goal is to increase knowledge about sleep and sleep disorders
in general, and to assist physicians in preparation for examination
to become board-certified sleep specialists by the American Board
of Sleep Medicine.
Scope: Our purpose is to increase awareness among physicians
of the nature and treatment of sleep disorders. The scope of our
program is limited to the field of sleep and its disorders.
Characteristics of potential participants: Our target
audience consists of pulmonologists, neurologists, psychiatrists,
pediatricians, internal medicine, ENTs, general practitioners
and surgeons (independent of their specialties) in the U.S. and
other countries, who have an interest in sleep and sleep disorders.
Types of activities provided: To accomplish our CME goals,
the school offers courses which include lectures, workshops and
clinical training in polysomnography, sleep medicine and surgery.
